By setting up a Savings Goal in the Lunar app, you can easily and quickly start saving money. Goals keep you motivated and make it easy for you to track your savings penny by penny. At the same time, you can quickly set up rules so that money is automatically deposited into your savings goal - daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually.

When you set up and deposit money into a savings goal, we create a visual breakdown of your money. This means that the money you see on your savings goal and in your account resides in the same account. When you set a goal, we simply make it possible to visually separate the money, making it easier and more motivating for you to save. That way, you don't need to create an extra account for your savings - smart, right?

How to create a new goal

  1. Open your Lunar app and select the Savings tab in the menu at the top of the screen.

  2. Tab on Create a savings goal at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Now, specify what you want to save for. It could be for a trip, a gift, or for unexpected expenses, then press Continue.

  4. Enter the amount you want to save and press Continue.

  5. If you're not saving for something specific, you don't need to enter an amount - you can simply click Skip.

  6. Choose an image that fits well with your Goal. You can find several different images using the search field at the top of the page. Press Continue once you've selected an image.

There you go! Your Goal is now created, and you're ready to start saving money by depositing money or setting rules for your Savings Goal.

FAQ

Does Lunar offer monthly savings?

Yes, Lunar offers Savings Goals where you can choose to automate your savings by, for example, setting aside a fixed amount every month.

Which account does my Savings Goal belong to?

Your Savings Goals are always linked to your primary account - i.e. the bank account that was automatically assigned to you when you became a Lunar customer.

I can't see a transaction to my savings?

When you add money to your Savings Goal, it doesn't show up as a transaction because the money hasn't actually moved from your account - we've just visually divided the money. Therefore, the amount available in your account will decrease, but you won't see this as a transaction in your account.

I transferred from my Goal but don't see a transaction?

If you withdraw money from your Savings Goal and back to your account, you will not see the money as a transaction in your account - your available balance in your account will increase.

Where can I get an overview of my Goals?

To get an overview of deposits and withdrawals between your account and your Goal, you can open the specific Goal and view your Activity.

My account is overdrawn - how does this affect my Goal?

If your primary account is overdrawn, the money will not automatically be deducted from your Savings Goal. This means that you will have to manually cover the missing amount yourself.
