It is possible for you to both send and receive international transfers on your Lunar account. Below you can read more about how the two options work.

Incoming international transfers

When receiving international transfers, you can expect them to be received in your account within 5-7 days of being sent from your other bank.

If you have not received your amount from an international transfer within the above estimate, it will unfortunately not be possible for Lunar to see where your incoming transfer has gone, as we do not possess this information as the receiving bank.

However, in order for Lunar to know where your incoming transfer has gone, you need to ask the sending bank for a receipt and provide it to Lunar so that we can track the transfer.

Lunar will need one of the following two types of documentation:

  • If the transfer was made via IBAN/SWIFT, the sending bank can send you a document called an MT103, which is a confirmation from the sending bank that the money has been sent to Lunar.

  • If the transfer is made as a SEPA transfer, the sending bank can send you a document called a PACS.008, which is a confirmation from the sending bank that the money has been sent to Lunar.

We need one of these two types of documents to be able to see if the transfer in question is at Lunar, our intermediary bank, or if it is still at the sending bank.

Outgoing international transfers

When you have sent an international transfer and you see that the money has been withdrawn from your account, this means that the money has been sent to the recipient bank.

International transfers have to go through several banks on their way to a foreign recipient account. Therefore, it takes a little longer for the money to arrive.

When we send money from Lunar, it typically takes between 2-5 business days for the money to reach the recipient - but since we can never predict waiting times in "intermediary banks", we sometimes experience that it takes longer.

International transfer with incorrect bank details

If you have made a transfer with incorrect bank details, where the account number and account owner do not match, the receiving bank will charge a fee for returning the transfer.

Please note that it can usually take up to 10 business days for an international transfer to be returned to your account.

When you receive international transfers, you can expect them to be available in your business account within 5 business days.

If you have not received an international transfer within the specified timeframe, you should first contact the sending bank. If the transfer has been sent, you need to request documentation from the sending bank and contact us so that we can initiate a trace.
