What is a joint account?
A joint account is an account that you share with one or more people. In Lunar, you can share an account with up to 10 other Lunar users.
We've made it super easy for you to share finances with others. You can create a budget account with your roommate, a daily expenses account with your partner, or a travel account with a group of friends.
Your money is covered by the Danish deposit guarantee up to 100,000 EUR, equivalent to approximately 750,000 DKK, 1 million SEK or 1 million NOK.
Becoming member of a joint account
You can become a member of a joint account:
Anyone with a Lunar account can participate in a joint account. You can have a Light, Standard, Plus, or Unlimited subscription. All you need is a Lunar account and an invitation to become a member of a joint account.
All members of a joint account can:
Transfer money to and from the joint account
Access a physical and a virtual Visa Debit card and make card payments
View the joint account in their Lunar app and keep track of all transactions in the account
Comment on transactions
The owner of a joint account can:
Invite participants who are already Lunar users
Approve participants
Remove participants (and thereby also block linked cards)
Becoming an owner of a joint account
If you have one of our Standard, Plus or Unlimited plans, you can create a shared account.
Create a new joint account like this:
Open your Lunar app and select 'Accounts' from the menu bar at the top
Tap the "Add" button in the bottom right corner
Now select "Joint account" and follow the app's flow to create it
Turn an existing account into a joint account like this:
Go to the account you want to make a joint account (you can only make extra accounts shared)
Press the round "Invite" button
Send the invite link to the person you want to invite to the account
The person must now accept that they want to be part of the account (If you are not yet a Lunar user, the link will take you to the App Store, as you must have your own Lunar account to be part of a shared account)
To ensure that outsiders cannot access the account, you as the account owner must now approve the new member before they can access the account. You do this through the notification at the top of your app
Guide to closing a joint account
As the owner of the joint account, you first need to remove all members. The members' accounts will automatically convert to regular consumer accounts. Then you can proceed to close the account itself, just like any other account.
Click on the account you wish to close.
Press Details.
Now press Close Account
The account is now set for closure. Note that the notice period is the current month.
